About Friday… what a day to mark FIFTEEN YEARS since I photographed my first ever wedding. @sophialayne & @funkysav … where can I start. A pair of absolute angels with the biggest hearts 💖 The warmest and fun group of family and friends there to support their marriage and start of their life together.

They married by a beautiful river bank in rural Scotland then hiked up a hill with their besties for fizz! Followed by a trip to Sainsburys in their wedding outfits for a BBQ meal. Absolute legends 👌🏻

I still can’t believe I get to do this for a job. The 21 year old who had to google “what happens at a wedding” after agreeing to photograph the wedding of a friend of a friend would be so proud of me right now.

The most elegant setting for the most magical day with guests coming from USA and London. It was an absolute dream to work with the incredible @platter_and_pop again and OMG I still can’t get over the flowers and the desert station!!

Oh hello sunshine ☀️ Edinburgh just being absolutely stunning for @ayyemdee and Blake’s engagement shoot last week. Loved exploring some of my fave places with them.

"We truly love them (especially the film!!! I just love the grain and authenticity of those) and are so happy we had a chance to get to know you a bit better and get a lil more comfy in front of the camera before our big day later this summer. The session results are amazing but also it was just so helpful to spend some time with you and get to know your style (and vice versa!)"

I’m so in love with the colours from these rolls. My manual focusing still isn’t quite on point yet but I finally figured out how to adjust the camera diopter for my eyesight yay! There’s still something just so beautiful about film, especially medium format even when you miss the focus!

The beautiful Stephanie ✨ I love using creative shoots to experiment with creative ideas that I can bring into my wedding photography. Across this set of images I blended film and digital and used a cinematography filter for the creative blur.

For digital I used both the modern R5 mirrorless camera and my 5D classic camera from 2005.

This year I’m putting a focus on creating with intent. Going back to using a retro DSLR has really helped me with that alongside shooting film. Using a retro DSLR and shooting in a film like way is such a good way to push forward your skills as a photographer.

I may bring my 5D classic out for some wedding shots this year as the colours are absolutely insane ✨

The magic of Glencoe on 35mm film & digital ✨ 🎞️

I could share every frame from this stunning elopement I photographed in Glencoe last week. The light was absolutely unreal and I’m utterly obsessed with all of the b&w film shots I took.

“My heart’s in the Highlands, my heart is not here,
My heart’s in the Highlands, a-chasing the deer;
Chasing the wild-deer, and following the roe,
My heart’s in the Highlands, wherever I go.”

Glencoe elopement photographer | analogue elopement photographer | 35mm film wedding photographer

Getting in some creativity and inspiration at @velvet.and.linen.workshops before wedding season starts. I always use creative shoots to try new ideas I can incorporate into my weddings.

After dusting off my Canon 5D classic DSLR from 2005, I put a split diopter filter on it for some cool creative shots (I’m obsessed omg!). The screen on the camera broke so it was like the magic of getting my film back from the lab when I loaded them onto the computer.

I also hired the 28-70 F2 lens for my canon R5 and think that will be making its way into my kit bag for all of my digital work.

I also shot a bunch of 35mm & medium format analogue film. I’m planning on developing some of it myself, looking forward to getting back into the darkroom 📷🎞️✌🏻

A few film scans from Heather & Seth’s belter of a day at @wellingtonhouseonthesquare from earlier this month. Mix of #portra400 & #portra800 🎞️📷✨

The day was an absolute dream (even with the crazy windy weather!!) and I was obsessed with Heather’s dress, made from a vintage pattern by Seth’s mum Ruth and aunt Cheryl. Ruth also made their wedding cake and grew the tulips for the flowers in her garden! Mother in law goals!!

I can’t get over the beautiful interiors and rooms at Wellington house. Every corner was beautifully decorated and styled after the owners lovingly restored the building. The venue made the most perfect backdrop for their couple portraits with storm Kathleen’s winds ruining our original plans for a beach walk!

Seth and Heather really put the most beautiful and personal touches into their day. From Seth playing the piano during the drinks reception, to their parlour games for their guests.
