I’m Loraine. I am a wedding photographer based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I have a background in Fine Art having studied at Edinburgh College of Art and a BSc in Web Design and Development which gives me a great foundation for being a photographer in the digital age. I have over 15 years experience as a commercial photographer and have been photographing weddings since 2009. I have captured weddings for over 250 couples which is pretty amazing and special.
I have a huge soft spot for anything vintage, DIY, elopements, Edinburgh architecture, old buildings, gorgeous flowers, old records, film noir, Harry Potter (I’m a Hufflepuff!) and interior design. I love to travel and explore new locations, both in Scotland with in my wee mini and jumping on a plane abroad.

THIS ONE KEEPS ME SANE

As a wedding photographer my aim is to capture memories for your to share with generations to come. Having family photos dating back to 1894 is so powerful and important to me. My great granny was an avid photographer and had a super8 camera and I feel so grateful to have these photos.
When my grandad had his stroke in 2015, it completely changed my mindset in my business and the meaning of what I do. I connected on facebook with a distant family member who sent me copies of a family album with photos of him. His long term memory was the first thing to come back. He could remember everything in the old photos and the super8 film and had such joy from it. When I took him the photos, it was the first time I had seen him really smile since he had the stroke. He reminisced about his cousins and laughed at the stories behind the images.
Last year I started climbing munros as he loves looking at his old albums of his munro bagging. When climbing my first munro I got chatting to a man who must have been a similar age to my granddad, I told him my story and my WHY and he said how amazing it was that I was doing it. As I reached the top I could feel the tears in my eyes.
The connections we have with each other mean so much, the memories, the photos. The legacy of who we are and our story of our journey through life. Weddings are such an important part of life and I'm so honoured to be part of every wedding I photograph.

To me photography is all about telling a story, capturing the emotion of weddings and creating memories. We are all so special, unique and each couple I work with has a different story and I always end up with a tear in my eye during the ceremony and speeches.
I like to work in a relaxed, creative documentary style veering away from traditional posed wedding photography. I work without flash where possible making the use of available light to capture the emotion and mood of the day. Whilst I still take the traditional ‘formal’ shots of your family, the special moments and reactions from you and your guests are just as important as well as all the little details you spent time creating for your day.
Unless you want to spend lots of time doing photos or are having an elopement… I’ll normally steal you away for 2 or 3 smaller sessions lasting 10-15 minutes. If the weather is looking iffy we might pop out for one 30 mins session or switch things up a bit. I LOVE to photograph during the ‘golden hour’ when the light is at its best, so I might steal you out during dessert if I see some nice light.
In this digital era I believe that wedding books are even more important than ever and will be the first heirloom for your family. My family albums are so important to me.
